After two editions in June, showcase festival MENT Ljubljana returns with a new date in early spring from 29 to 31 March 2023, with a focus on new, stylistically diverse performances and presents upcoming and established artists from all over Europe, who will perform on its ninth edition.

The first nine artists are: Birds of Unknown (Slovenia), Klotljudi (Serbia), Lelee (Slovenia), Moveknowledge (Slovenia), Nesen (Latvia), Planeta Polar (Lithuania), Puuluup (Estonia), Wu-Lu (Great Britain). and Zou (Germany).

This year, MENT presents The Baltic Focus, a joint initiative dedicated to the vibrant scenes of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, which will bring together a wide range of performers, professionals, presentations and conference themes related to the Baltic States. Baltic Focus is co-produced by the export offices of Music Estonia, Music Latvia and the Lithuanian Music Business Association with the support of the Baltic Cultural Fund.

Participants in the main part of the MENT conference program are: Christof Ellinghaus, founder and executive director of the most important German independent label Citi Slang, and legendary Slovenian concert promoter Igor Vidmar (ŠKUC Ropot, Slovenia). A number of booking agents come to Ljubljana, including Sarah Joy (ATC Live, UK), she represents bands such as Yard Act, Squid and PVA, and Jerome Williams (EBB Music, Netherlands), who works with Altin Guna, Jambinai and BCUC in between others.

The round table of the festival will be joined by Michal Kaščak, founder, director and program manager of the largest Slovak festival Pohoda. The conference will also host Nadja Haderer, head of one of Austria’s leading independent publishing houses, Ink Music. As part of Baltic Focus, the director of Music Estonia Ave Tolpt, experienced Latvian agent and manager Guna Zučika (Every Little Thing) and Lithuanian concert promoter (MP3) and president of the Lithuanian Music Business Association Vaidas Stackevičius will reveal the peculiarities and secrets of their music scenes.

The first group of nine artists revealed includes the subtle contemporary jazz trio Birds of Unknown,
Serbian garage punk band Klotludi, heralds of “Adriatic” indie rock Lelee, Slovenian ambassadors of neo-psychedelia Moveknowledge, melancholic Latvian rockers Nesen, Lithuanian neo-cumbia explorers Planeta Polar, adventurous Estonian neofolk Puuluup, explosive hip-hop/post punk blend Wu-Lu and futuristic pop Zou.
