McLaren Solus GT – ultralight hyper sports car with high-revving V10

In collaboration with the car game Grand Turismo, McLaren has developed an extreme hyper sports car with no room for passengers and with a howling high-revving V10.

McLaren will only produce 25 examples and all are already booked by extremely wealthy customers. The price tag is four million US dollars.

The name Solus GT implies that the car can only be driven completely solo without passengers. The centered driving position is inspired by Formula 1 cars and can be seen as a salute to the iconic McLaren F1. The steering wheel is made of carbon fiber and looks like an F1 steering wheel.

The design originates from the project car game Grand Turismo project Ultimate Vision Gran Turismo 2017.

Even the engine is F1-inspired with a non-turbo V10 that can be revved to 10,000 rpm producing 840 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque. The cylinder volume is 5.2 liters. 0-100 km/h goes in 2.5 seconds.

The McLaren Solus GT weighs under a ton and has an aerodynamic design that generates 1,200 kilos of ground pressure. The car is street legal, but learns to do best on track days.
