May 5 is World Hand Hygiene Day, promoted by the World Health Organization (WHO) since 2009, and as usual, the Sant Joan de Déu de Martorell Hospital Foundation (FHSJDM) puts a series of initiatives are underway aimed at both the public and the hospital’s own professionals. The aim of the day is to raise awareness about the importance of a simple and effective measure such as hand hygiene.
This year, due to the COVID-19, the actions aimed at the population have focused on disseminating information through a video on hand hygiene that can be viewed on the totem located in the entrance square of the FHSJDM and an information sign in the hospital lobby.
As for the professionals, training on hand hygiene will be carried out in the hospital throughout the day. In addition, conferences have been organized through the Department of Health of the Generalitat de Catalunya online on the importance of hand hygiene for healthcare professionals.
