Marcelo says he only found out about the SIS intervention three days later – Portugal

The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, said this Thursday that he received the first contact about the intervention of the SIS in the recovery of a computer taken from the Ministry of Infrastructure on April 29, three days after the incident in the custody. However, the head of state did not reveal who he spoke to about it.

Journalists questioned the President if he had been informed by Prime Minister António Costa, to which Marcelo replied: “What I can say is that the first contact I had on this matter with someone was on the 29th [de abril]on the return of Ovibeja”, not adding further details. “Because if I don’t count the conversations I have, even less do I count the conversations I have about a matter in which what I wanted to say I said, on the 4th [de maio, numa comunicação ao País depois de Costa se ter recusado a demitir João Galamba]. If I have to say something, I’ll say it later.” This Wednesday, in Parliament, the prime minister said that he spoke with Marcelo de Rebelo de Sousa on the night of the events, on April 26, but assumed he had not spoken about the intervention of the SIS.
