Man taken to hospital after pre-drowning situation on unsupervised beach in Póvoa de Varzim – Portugal


A 46-year-old man was injured this Monday morning after a pre-drowning situation on Ramalha beach, in Estela, Póvoa de Varzim.

The man was pulled out of the water by a surfer. He was unconscious.

According to Correio da Manhã, after being rescued and stabilized at the scene by the rescue means, the victim recovered his senses and was transported to the hospital.

The beach where the incident took place is not guarded.

Elements of the Os Delfins Lifeguard Association, the ‘SeaWatch’ Project, the National Maritime Authority, the Volunteer Firefighters of Póvoa de Varzim and INEM were mobilized to the site.
