Make an interesting umbrella holder

You may not be the happiest person because the rainy days have arrived, but you can cheer them up with this umbrella holder. It is quite easy to make.

We will not make you dance in the rain and be thrilled because autumn has arrived, but it, like every season, has its positive sides. (Think of boiled, wine, hot chocolate, teas, a fire in the fireplace, merry plague boots,).

On the blog Designsponge they showed us how to make an umbrella holder that will cheer up your entrance and we are sure, at least, your friends will like it.

Here’s how to make it yourself.

You need:

  1. High cardboard pipe (sonotube), commonly used for pouring concrete pipes. If you can’t find this pipe, you can use a similar one or make a pipe yourself from better quality cardboard.umbrella holder1
  2. Insulation cork (as well as sonotube you can find it in home and construction markets)
  3. Blue self-adhesive foil
  4. Spray paint (optional)
  5. Meter
  6. Marker
  7. Scissors
  8. A sharp knife or scalpel
  9. Larger pot holder
  10. Glue

Determine how high a cardboard tube (or umbrella holder) you want, draw it, mark it with a marker on the “sonotube” and cut off the excess with a scalpel and scissors.

Cut a piece of cork for insulation of the same height as the pipe and the appropriate width. Coat the edges of the pipe (both at the bottom and the top) with this cork and glue everything well with the help of glue – completely cover the pipe with cork for insulation.

In the tutorial, they sprayed the self-adhesive foil with colored spray, but we think that this step is not obligatory.

Carefully tape the inside of the pipe with adhesive tape. (It will be easiest for you to cut a few longitudinal strips and assemble them, glue them inside the pipe). Make raindrops from the rest of the self-adhesive tape.

Draw a larger drop of rain on the cardboard (as in the photos) and cut it out. Put it on self-adhesive paper, then draw about 30 such drops, and cut them out to get stickers – raindrops.

Glue them to the outside of the pipe (if they do not stick well, use glue), on the insulation cork. Arrange them as desired.

Place the decorated tube on a flowerpot and all together in some convenient place in the hallway. Read also how to make a football field out of a pizza box.
