Construction of a biomass heating plant will soon begin in Majdanpek, in which four million euros will be invested. This municipality will be the fourth local self-government to receive a biomass heating plant.
According to Dubravka Đedović, Minister of Mining and Energy, with this investment, fuel oil goes into the past, so sulfur dioxide emissions from the heating plant will be completely eliminated, while carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced by 93 percent – from 3,757 tons to 263 tons per year.
She estimated that the operating costs of the heating plant will be lower by 15 percent, which will have an additional positive effect on its business, saying that this should be an example for other cities and municipalities to improve their district heating systems so that they are also highly efficient at the same time. and that the impact on the environment is minimized.

Together with the reconstruction of part of the hot water network and substations, for which the contract was signed in April, 5.5 million euros will be invested in this project in Majdanpek, according to the announcement.
It is expected that the works on the heat pipe and substations will begin in the coming days and be completed by the beginning of the heating season, while the work on the construction of the new heating plant is planned to begin in July and be completed by February 2024.
