Lotus introduces LEVA platform National Class

Lotus has introduced the LEVA platform, which is designed for light electric vehicles. It will be the basis of the new Lotus sports models arriving in 2026, as well as the next-generation Alpine A110.

The LEFT can be the basis of three configurations, including a small sports model, a sports car with two seats and a longer distance between the axles, and 2 + 2 with one or two electric units. It is suitable for batteries from 66.4kWh to 99.6kWh. One battery can be placed vertically behind the cab and the other horizontally under the floor.

The smaller sports car cited as an example has a wheelbase of 2470mm and is powered by a single electric unit that produces 475hp.

The larger sports model will have more than 2650mm between the axles and will use a more powerful assembly of two electric units with a total power of 880HP. The 2 + 2 model will have similar dimensions, and will be available with one or two motors.

The architecture will be made of reinforced aluminum alloy developed by Brunel University in London, and Lotus states that it is 37% lighter than the platform used by the Emir with V6 drive. The rear wheels will be attached to the structure with double forks.

Richard Moore, director of Lotus’ engineering department, said the LEVA project was as revolutionary now as the 1996 Elise architecture. He noted that great weight savings have been achieved and that the focus is on ultimate performance, efficiency and safety.
