The French cyclist Lorenzo Manzin (Total Direct Energie) has won the 52nd edition of the Clssica Comunitat Valenciana 1969, a race held this Sunday on a track shortened to 96.9 kilometers between La Nucia and Valencia, and which marked his return to the international calendar after 16 years to open the season in Europe.
With a time of 2 hours, 12 minutes and 38 seconds, Manzin prevailed in the sprint on arrival in Valencia ahead of the Spanish Juan Jos Lobato (Euskaltel-Euskadi) and the Belgian Amaury Capiot (Arka-Samsic), second and third respectively completing the pdium.
Despite the multiple escape attempts that the race experienced, it followed the established script and the winner decided to sprint on the streets of the Tria capital.
The event was held by the La Marina Cycling Club and SLT Sport, after 16 years of absence and having counted during its previous stage with winners of the stature of Domingo Perurena, Nol Dejonckheere, Mathieu Hermans, Sean Kelly, Laurent Jalabert, Mario Cipollini, Erik Zabel, Alesandro Petacchi and Scar Freire, among others.
