[아시아경제 임철영 기자] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 23rd that it will hold the ‘2022 Seoul Water Symposium’ to discuss measures to preemptively prevent and respond to ‘large-scale leaks in water supply pipes’ that cause inconvenience to citizens such as large-scale water outages in the event of an accident. The symposium is a water supply technology seminar hosted by the Seoul Water Research Institute.

This symposium will be held on the 24th in the medium conference room on the 1st basement floor of the Korea Science and Technology Center in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, under the theme of ‘Large Water Pipe Leakage Response Status and Challenges’. A total of 5 presentations will introduce cases of leakage accidents in large water supply pipes at home and abroad, followed by in-depth discussions on causes and countermeasures for each case.

In addition, the latest technology trends at home and abroad for detecting leaks in water pipes are also reviewed to prevent leaks in advance. The presentations will be conducted by Professor Yu Do-geun, University of Suwon, Han Yeong-chun, Director of Seoyong Engineering, Kim Doo-il, Dankook University Professor, Kim Gyeong-pil, K-Water Senior Researcher, and Han Keum-seok, Seoul Water Research Institute researcher.

After the topic presentation, Dankook University Professor Hyun In-hwan will chair and conduct in-depth discussions and Q&A on ‘preemptive countermeasures against leaks in large water supply pipes’. ?
