Lightning: Klaus was in a restaurant for an hour, he said he needed a toilet

Prague – Former President Vaclav Klaus spent more than an hour on Tuesday in a closed restaurant in Prague and had no veil. The daily reported it today lightning. Restaurants are now closed due to the spread of covid-19, only food is allowed to be served through the window, and wearing mouth and nose protection is mandatory. The company’s staff told the newspaper that Klaus had gone for food and needed to go to the bathroom.

According to Blesk, Klaus came to the Dejvická 34 restaurant in Prague 6 on Tuesday around noon. The entrance was then guarded by Klaus’s bodyguards. Klaus spent about an hour and a quarter in the company.

“Mr. Klaus is our loyal customer and he had ordered the food with him in a box. He only stopped by our toilet,” the restaurant manager told Blesk, who did not want to give his name. According to the daily, however, Klaus did not take any food when he left the company. The Václav Klaus Institute declined to comment on the situation, Blesk said.

Klaus has repeatedly criticized government regulations to limit the spread of covid-19. On Sunday, for example, he took part in a demonstration by opponents of the measure in Prague. According to pictures from the event, he was not wearing a veil when speaking to thousands of protesters or taking pictures with protesters.

Other politicians also violated anti-epidemic measures. Former Minister of Health Roman Prymula (for YES) and Chairman of YES MPs Jaroslav Faltýnek, for example, attended a meeting with other people at Rio’s restaurant in Vyšehrad last October at the time of the restaurant’s closure. Both received a fine of 3,000 crowns for this. The restaurant was also sanctioned, the amount of the fine is not yet known. Prymula subsequently resigned as minister and Faltýnek resigned as the first deputy chairman of the YES government movement.

Last year, the chairman of the KDU-ČSL, Marian Jurečka, and the head of the TOP 09 deputies, Miroslav Kalousek, also received a fine from the Prague City Hall. Both violated anti-Covid-19 measures by drinking beer. Kalousek drank it in a closed restaurant while waiting for food and Jurečka on the street. The amount of the fine was not disclosed by the municipality at that time.

The owner of the Prague restaurant Šeberák, Jakub Olbert, also received a fine of 15,000 crowns, because he opened the restaurant last year, despite the ban. According to him, he wanted to express his disagreement with the government’s attitude towards entrepreneurs.
