Suara.com – For Muslims, Eid al-Adha means the right moment to slaughter sacrificial animals. However, the law on the sharing of sacrificial animals is still being questioned by some circles. Can one sacrificial animal be bought by several people?
Based on NU Online, according to the Shari’a, one cow or camel can be used for seven people who sacrifice, while goats are only valid for one person to sacrifice. Therefore, if a joint venture exceeds this provision, for example, a cow for eight people sacrificed and a goat for two people who sacrificed, then the slaughtered animal is not valid.
This is explained in the Hadith History of Muslim which means as follows.
“From Jabir, he said we went out with the Messenger of Allah while wearing ihram for Hajj, then he ordered us to unite in camels and cows, each seven of us united in one camel,” (HR Muslim).
In addition, this provision is also contained in the Hadith History of Imam Malik bin Anas, which means as follows.
“Indeed Abu Ayyub al-Ansari said, We used to sacrifice with one goat, someone slaughtered it for himself and his family, then humans after that prided themselves on each other, so it became a place for mutual pride (not worship),” (HR Imam Malik bin Anas).
In accordance with this hadith, the view emerged from the scholars who emphasized that the joint venture for the sacrifice of a goat is not permissible, so the sacrifice becomes invalid.
However, there are also some scholars who assume that a joint venture of a goat is still permissible. This assumption is based on the Hadith of Muslim History which mentions that Nabu Muhammad Saw made sacrifices for his family and people with only two goats.
“The Prophet sacrificed two goats and prayed, O Allah, accept it from Muhammad, his family and his people,” (HR. Muslim).

The hadith is not strong enough to be used as an argument. Because, in the hadith, the context of joint or shared sacrifice of goats is not explained, but is related to al isyrak fi al tsawab (including others in the reward of the sacrifice).
