Laurent Romejko paid tribute to the two cult presenters of the program “Numbers and letters” on September 17.
TELEVISION – The flagship program of France Télévisions Numbers and letters made its comeback on Saturday September 17 … without two of its historical animators, Arielle Boulin-Prat and Bertrand Renard. The immutable presenter Laurent Romejko therefore wanted to pay tribute to his two « amis »left because of a contractual disagreement with the chain.
« Right here, for decades, Arielle and Bertrand have brought that little daily dose of knowledge, always unpretentious, but also those arithmetic and spelling tricks that have allowed most of you to grow over the years, also to learn, highlighted Laurent Romejko, master of the game since 1992.
“They especially brought a collective good mood that there was on the set and this mischief that there was between us”, added the host, before insisting on their personalities which “have of course contributed to the success and exceptional longevity of this show”. Arielle Boulin-Prat and Bertrand Renard had joined the show in 1986 and 1975 respectively. The game premiered in 1965.
Replaced by Blandine Maire and Stéphane Crosnier
“You understood, I have a lot of affection for them. And I’m not the only one since several generations of the large ‘Numbers and Letters’ family thank you, my friends Arielle and Bertrand”finished Laurent Romejko by applauding them, just like the public.
This summer, the management of France Télévisions had mentioned a disagreement on the new formula of the show, which is now only broadcast on weekends and no longer daily during the week, to explain the departure of the duo. But a few days later, Arielle Boulin-Prat and Bertrand Renard challenged this version and mentioned a departure “forced and compelled” because of the chain’s refusal to grant them a permanent contract.
The two hosts have been replaced by two new specialists in numbers and letters: Blandine Maire, professor, lawyer and journalist and Stéphane Crosnier, former member of the show, particularly gifted in mathematics.
