The volume of gas reserves owned by AS Latvijas gāze in Incukalns is 0.2946 terawatt-hours (TWh), the company said on the Nasdaq Riga stock exchange.
Thus, Latvijas gāze points out that it does not have enough natural gas to supply households and is unable to comply with the provisions of the Energy Law regarding specific reserves, which should have amounted to 1.15 TWh as of August 31.
At the same time, despite the indicated amount of gas reserves owned by Latvijas gāze in the Inčukalns underground gas storage facility and the limited possibilities for supplying natural gas, the company continues to work as a public trader on solutions to provide consumers with gas for the heating season 2022/2023.
As reported, the volume of natural gas to supply consumers during the heating season is 1.15 TWh, thus, according to the decision of the government, Latvijas gāze is obliged to store the specified volume of natural gas in the Incukalns storage facility until September 30th.
Earlier, the Ministry of Economy issued a statement stating that Latvijas gāze has stored more natural gas in the Inčukalnas gas storage than is necessary to supply the population.
JSC Conexus Baltic Grid, the unified operator of the natural gas transmission and storage system, also confirmed that the amount of natural gas reserves of Latvijas gāze is greater than required by the regulations adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers on providing energy consumers with early warning of the alarm level.
