Prague – Last year, 27,038 new companies were established in the Czech Republic, which is the least since 2016. The reason was the economic downturn caused by the effects of the pandemic. The year before, 29,781 companies were established. This is according to data published today by the consulting company Bisnode A Dun & Bradstreet Company. The total number of companies in the Czech Republic increased by 11,555 to 518,574 in 2020.
The Bisnode database also shows that of the total number of companies, 491,849 were limited liability companies and 26,725 joint-stock companies last year. “Despite the fact that 27,038 new companies were established last year, the total number of registered entities increased by only 11,555. The reason is that a record number of companies disappeared,” said Petra Štěpánová, an analyst at Bisnode A Dun & Bradstreet Company.
