The Las Vegas Loop tunnel system in the US state of Nevada extensive. A committee approved the expansion project to allow Elon Musk’s The Boring Company (TBC) to continue digging.
The expansion has been approved by the responsible commissioners of Clark County, Nevada. The underground tunnel system will be extended by 40.2 km.
At the moment there is only a tunnel connecting the halls of the Las Vegas Convention Center. The tunnel was up and running during January’s CES.
According to a tweet from the committee, the expansion will take place from the Las Vegas Strip. The original plan called for a 29-mile network with 51 stations. The Las Vegas Loop is currently about 2.2 miles long – with five stops. Westgate and Encore are still under construction.
The newly planned stations will be built on Las Vegas Boulevard near the airport, as well as in Chinatown, at the University of Nevada and at Harmon Square.
The original idea was to use Hyperloop technology in the tunnel system. However, so far there are no indications that TBC will use this technology seriously. Instead, Teslas drive through the tunnel.
