The news that some unconscious people shot and killed three deer in the Kerkini lake area is causing outrage. The dead deer was spotted a short distance below Akritohori by the National Park ranger, Antonis Iliadis, during his daily patrol.
“The deer was an adult and shot with seven shrapnel in its body. I notified the Sidirokastro Forestry and the Police Department of the area and in the autopsy they performed it appeared that there were also two dead deer, of a younger age, in the same spot,” the National Park’s ranger, Antonis Iliadis, told ERT Serron.
According to information from ERT Serres, the deer was farmed, but the owner of the farm passed away a few months ago. After his death, some people breached the fence of the farm and deer got out of it and ended up in the Kerkini area.
Three of them were shot unconscious and investigations are being carried out by the Police to locate them.
