On the outskirts of Šalčininkai district, in Sakalas, in the stables of the riding club, there are not as many horses as they used to be – as Mrs. Laima says, “the age is not the same, it can’t, it has decreased as much as it could”.
However, the love for horses in this woman’s heart did not diminish.
As she leads the stables, she caresses, talks, introduces everyone.
“It all started in a very old time – in 1982. There was nothing here then, this one built the stables especially for us, – they were asked to tell us about the establishment of the riding club, said Mrs. Laima.
– There was such a fun director of the Pig Complex, who was very interested in everything – somewhere in the pond they plant flowers, what kind of animals they bring. There was a harvest festival and we were invited with a demonstration program.
We came, we did a demonstration program – I danced through obstacles, figure riding. The director, as was fashionable at the time, tells my husband at a party in the wilderness – why can’t we have horses here? ”
And the man promised that if there were stables, they would come here.
“It simply came to our notice then on laughter, with humor and was everything. Well, we came with the whole group, our horses, which we had in Vilnius, at the Belmont riding school, ”said L.Šilalienė.
There were also a hundred horses
Her experience with horses is about 55 years.
Now, four of the 11 horses are family, others are renting space.
“We also had a lot of riders here, we transported unrestrained horses from Russia, we carried them around and transported them to Germany. Sometimes it was up to a hundred. 50 horses are brought by such a German from all over Lithuania, we process them and send them on. Somehow we held, we lived from it.
Then we bought good mares, mated and had our own horses. It was youth, and now … ”smiles Mrs. Laima.
There can be a very strong rider and a medium horse, and another weak rider and a very good horse, this is a medium horse with a strong rider will win.
There was both sports and entertainment.
“When awards were held in the Sports Department in 2015, our child was the first in the children’s competition, the first in the youth competition, and the first in the youth competition. My first four came out. There was a very strong section.
There can be a very strong rider and an average horse, and another weak rider and a very good horse, it will be an average horse with a strong rider will win, ”L. Šilalienė said about the formulas of success.
She herself once started riding at an equestrian base near the former Žalgiris Stadium. She was then invited to Riešė, where Vilnius Stables operated, rode and train.
He returned to Vilnius five years later when he built stables in Belmonte.
There are still students
Laima herself found herself in Vilnius as a child, when her parents were taken to Siberia:
“I stayed because I was with my aunt in Vilnius, I went to fifth grade. So I stayed with her and took my parents away. They came back five years later and while I was studying, it wasn’t easy.
But with horses – from an early age. The father had 19 hectares of his own land and 3 hectares of his uncle’s land. And had six horses, was a strong farmer. He was also a horse lover, it is probably hereditary. The daughter really wanted to ride. It started well, but for health reasons he could not continue riding. Granddaughter is nowhere near this. And the granddaughter rides pretty well. ”
It is the granddaughter and her peer (both girls graduated from high school this year) that are now Laima’s main students.
As they say, sometimes she wants to jump on a horse herself and show how to behave in one situation or another.
Unfortunately, the health is no longer that, so the granddaughter protects the grandmother, does not even allow her to try.
L.Šilalienė has trained many athletes who have achieved good results.
Once upon a time with riders came to Šalčininkai district.
We went to the camps in Moscow, Minsk, it was a really good result.
Achieved great results
As Mrs Laima recalls, the conditions for playing sports here were very good.
When the farms of the Livestock Complex moved in 1982, they bought a horse and provided them with fodder, so, as Laima says, “no one cared but sports.”
“We went to the camps in Moscow, Minsk, it was a really good result,” he says.
However, after Lithuania regained its independence and the former farms collapsed, difficult times came for the stud farm.
According to Laima, after buying a riding club with buildings and horses, they got into debt.
“We bought mares and started breeding. But we have not strayed from sports anywhere – sports, sports, sports all the time. As much as we could, we engaged in commerce, trying to get out of debt. We sold the house in Jašiūnai and moved out, ”Laima smiles.
Although it was not easy: “It was a particularly difficult time around 1992, when there was a blockade. We walked to the workouts, then we already nodded the mare.
But the hardest part is because the farms didn’t deliver the feed and we didn’t have any stocks that year. They used to come to the stables and weep, all the horses are barking and have nothing to feed. And so it was. “
We have not strayed from sports anywhere – sports, sports, sports all the time. As much as we could, we engaged in commerce, trying to get out of debt.
Then I even had to go to Belarus, where we managed to get rye straw, because oats were still available and hay was nowhere to be found.
However, the following year the situation began to improve, they started to take care of the feed themselves in advance.
“We played sports all the time. Children are such hooligans around, but when we started playing sports with us, we immediately started to be disciplined because it is dangerous if we disobey.
A horse can drop, climb and the like at that moment. So we kept discipline all the time, so good kids grew up. At first, 30 children gathered, but a lot fell, ”Laima smiles.
And now, if there are people who want to ride, maybe not necessarily reach sports heights, Laima gladly accepts:
“If children really want to, how will you respond? When you are with the horses all the time, it will not help if you come and show love for the horses. “
