Cincinnati (USA) – Tennis player Petra Kvitová will play for her 30th career title at the elite tournament in Cincinnati. The two-time Wimbledon champion will face the winner of France’s Caroline Garcia and Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenkova, whose semi-final was interrupted by rain in the third set, in her 40th WTA final after triumphing on grass in Eastbourne for her second trophy of the year.
The 32-year-old Kvitova advanced to the final in Cincinnati in her 11th main event start here over 2019 champion Madison Keys. She beat the American 6:7, 6:4, 6:3.
At the tournament of the elite category WTA 1000, the Czech tennis player is waiting for the twelfth final and she can win the ninth title, which would equal Simona Halepová. Only Serena Williams (13) and Viktoria Azarenková (10) have more. Kvitová last expanded her collection last February in Doha.
Thanks to advancing to the finals, Kvitová will return to the top 20 in the world rankings for the first time since mid-January and will once again be the Czech No. 1. A win would move her into the top 15.
