Tel Aviv – Judge Lukáš Krpálek finished right after the first match at the Grand Slam in Tel Aviv. Surprisingly, Belarusian Alexandr Vachovjak eliminated the Olympic winner and the number one in the weight category over 100 kg in the second round.

Krpálek had a free draw at the beginning, while Vachovjak dealt with Slovenian Enejo Marinič. Belarus, which is only 32nd in the world rankings, then managed to surprise even the Czech favorite. He won a wazari against the reigning world champion and then defended himself against the final pressure of a 30-year-old Czech national team member.

For Krpálek it was the first start in the Olympic season. The last time he fought was in November at the European Championships in Prague, where he was not good enough for the best and finished fifth. Surprisingly, this time he didn’t even make it to the final program. He lost to a 33-year-old Belarusian, whom he defeated at the Grand Slam in Paris three years ago.

In Tel Aviv, Krpálek was the least successful of the Czech national team. Věra Zemanová and Renata Zachová had the balance of one victory and one defeat.
