The member of the Presidency of the People’s Party, Vladimir Kovacevic, stated that the deputies of the Assembly of Serbia will decide today on the new indebtedness of the state in the amount of 769 million euros, which will increase the existing public debt of 30 billion euros by 2.56 percent.
“The state cannot repay the debts incurred by such turbo borrowing. This is clear to every citizen who has taken a loan from a bank and knows how difficult it is to repay it. “Through taxes and price increases, citizens are also repaying debts taken by the state, which is an additional and increasingly heavy burden that they will no longer be able to bear,” said Kovacevic.
“Serbia is facing a deep economic crisis because it is raising the price of almost everything – bread, oil, gasoline, electricity, cigarettes, subscription to RTS”, said Kovacevic.
Kovacevic pointed out that cereals have never been more expensive, while the current drought does not affect the yield.
“All industrial raw materials have already risen in price by more than 25 percent, and after their incorporation into finished products, the peak of price growth will occur in mid-September,” said Kovacevic.
Kovacevic reminded that the Minister of Finance, Sinisa Mali, presented the proposals of seven laws, which the Minister stated would enable “further accelerated growth and development of the Serbian economy”.
“Unfortunately, these laws will only enable greater borrowing at the expense of the current generation, but also our children.” “I do not agree with Mali that borrowing can ensure any progress, and it is still impossible to achieve the dream of six percent economic growth by the end of this year,” said Kovacevic.
Kovacevic added that it is completely clear that “the proposer of the credit indebtedness has no insight into the state of the economy.”
“If we add to that the concern and danger of a new closure due to a new wave of the corona virus, I am sure that there is no parameter that supports Mali’s claim,” Kovacevic concluded.
