The series will include six films. The first two will be broadcast at the beginning of next year and are dedicated to the civilians who died and 118 police officers who died in Kosovo and Metohija in 1998.

Announcing the series, the Minister of the Interior, Aleksandar Vulin, pointed out that the Ministry of the Interior has an obligation to preserve the truth about the time of the Siptar armed rebellion and NATO aggression against our country.

– That is why we are processing this important part, from 1998, when the police practically fought the Siptar terrorists, until 2001, when we have the last part of the armed uprising in the area of Presevo and Bujanovac – Minister Vulin specified.

He pointed out that Serbia had been forbidden for decades to remember, to remember, to write its history.

– For decades, the worst among us have decided that it is better not to tell the truth, so as not to offend those who killed our children with that truth. The Ministry of Internal Affairs, just like the former Ministry of Defense, will not allow something like this to ever happen again – the Minister said.

As he emphasized, this series is organized, systematic, documented and based on truth and evidence, a way to tell our story, to write our history.

– If we do not write our history, others will write it for us. Whenever others write our history, we are aggressors, murderers, there is no justice for our children – said Minister Vulin and added that the Ministry of the Interior is infinitely proud of the cooperation with RTS, which will result in at least six films that will cover everything that happened on in the area of Kosovo and Metohija, everything that preceded the NATO aggression and that was an armed uprising from 1998 to 2001.

– Every story will be told, every one will be documented, none of our names will be forgotten. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has the obligation to protect the security, safety, property and part of every citizen of Serbia, but it also has the obligation to preserve the memory – the Minister of Police emphasized.

As he pointed out, because we forgot Jasenovac, we experienced the Storm and because we did not talk about ballistics, we welcomed the KLA.

– If we keep silent about that, we will face some evil again. That must not happen again. The Serbian people will write their history, because there is nothing to be ashamed of, because our struggle was great, because our struggle is not over – said the Minister.

The bloodthirsty people who are at large, as he said, may be far from our justice, but in this way we will not allow them to feel as if they managed to escape, and in this way we will save the names of the victims, but also the killers.

– I will not allow it to be said now, not so long ago after the war and the armed Siptar rebellion, that everyone was just a victim of the war, that all these are tragic human destinies. They are not tragic human destinies. Tragic human destinies are our killed children, and those who killed them are criminals and we will not stop seeking justice – said Minister Vulin and expressed hope that these generations will be able to translate it into action.

– Since the First World War, we have not listed the names of our victims, neither in the First nor in the Second. We have no right not to do that even now, we have no right not to address the world with our truth. I know that the great and powerful will not want to hear our truth, but I want to at least make it harder for them to hide it and lie about us – said Minister Vulin.

The author and director of the films, Sladjana Zaric, specified that the first film covers the events that took place in the period from March and April, when armed conflicts broke out between the terrorist KLA and primarily the police force, until the end of September 1998. in many textbooks he calls it the “great summer offensive.”

The second film, which we will also watch at the beginning of next year, as she stated, is Racak.

– The story of a police action that was brilliantly carried out, and which in the end was presented as a terrible suffering of civilians. For the first time, RTS viewers will be able to get acquainted with what was happening in Racak, according to the chronology of events from hour to hour, and for the first time in this project, RTS and the MUP will talk about those who were on January 15, 1999. in Racak – Zaric specified.

Pointing out that she made the documentaries “War Stories from Košar” and “War Stories from Pashtrik” because she thought that those people and boys who were defending the homeland at the time should be thanked, Zaric said that her motive for the series “Kosovo Dossier” was the desire for the victims and their suffering to be part of the collective memory of the Serbian people through these films.

She pointed out that those who did not live in Kosovo and Metohija in 1998 were very unfamiliar with what was happening there.

– When I started researching, together with my team, what was happening in 1998, I was surprised and shocked. These were daily abductions from May to the first half of July. People were abducted from houses, on the road, no one was safe then. KLA terrorists kidnapped citizens and took them to camps. We then called it improvised prisons, I accepted the terminology of the Hague Tribunal, and that is that these are KLA camps – said Zaric.

All dramatizations, as she pointed out, were made on the basis of authentic testimonies of victims and their families, as well as on the basis of testimonies of Albanians given to the Hague Tribunal during the trials against Ramush Haradinaj and Fatmir Limalj. She emphasized that in these films, for the first time, exclusive testimonies given to our security services will be shown. Zaric pointed out that only in Orahovac, about 100 people were abducted, of which 41 bodies were found in mass graves, and that 15 members of the Kostic family were killed in the village of Retimlje alone.

Dragica Božanić from Opteruša, whose 16-year-old son, husband and other family members were abducted and killed in Kosovo and Metohija in 1998, as well as the residents of Retimlje, Orahovac, Zočište, testified about the terrible tragedy she survived. She stated that the Shiptar terrorists first turned off the electricity, and then opened fire on the village of Opteruša, which lasted all night.

According to her, they picked up all Serbs from the village and took them by tractors to the village of Pecane, where they separated men and women, armed KLA terrorists interrogated them, and then transferred the women to Zociste, where they were placed in a monastery. After the bomb was thrown at the monastery, as she said, they were transferred to the village of Semetiste, where the monks and women were interrogated, and one monk was taken away, kept all night, after which he was returned all beaten.

Women and monks were released through the International Red Cross, and all men from Retimlje, Orahovac, Opterusa were killed and their bodies were found in 2005 in two mass graves in Malisheva and Volujka. As part of the presentation and announcement of the “Kosovo Dossier” series, dramatized scenes were shown showing the KLA camp Jablanica, which was located in a village in Metohija, in the operational zone then commanded by Ramush Haradinaj.
