The president presented the Orders of the White Eagle to the founders and activists of KOR

On Friday, on the 46th anniversary of the establishment of KOR, during the ceremony in Belvedere, with the participation of, among others Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and the head of PiS Jarosław Kaczyński, the president – as the Grand Master of the Order – awarded Chojecki, Macierewicz and Naimski with the Order of the White Eagle.

“It is a great honor for me and also a personal pleasure that on the 46th anniversary of the establishment of the KOR and that movement towards a free Poland, I can award the youth who courageously stood up to this action at that time,” said the president during the ceremony at the Belweder Palace.

“It’s easy to be in opposition in a democratic and free country where you can say whatever you want, and aside from the fact that someone disagrees with you, you are safe. But it’s hard to summon the courage knowing that you who protested in front of me very often died “- added Andrzej Duda.

As he emphasized, he was also inspired by the current context – the fight of the Ukrainians against the Russian invasion.
