KMI Korea Institute of Medicine-Yonsei Medical Center, extension of the agreement for joint research on metabolic syndrome

[아시아경제 이관주 기자] KMI Korea Medical Research Institute announced on the 2nd that it had an agreement with Yonsei Medical Center for joint research on metabolic syndrome.

KMI and Yonsei University Health System have been conducting joint research for 16 years since the first agreement in 2007. After two extensions in 2012 and 2017, the fourth agreement was held this year. The term of the agreement is until 2027.

The agreement includes ▲ joint academic research on metabolic syndrome ▲ storage and management of resources and data necessary for research ▲ joint ownership and presentation of research results ▲ joint hosting of domestic and international academic symposiums and seminars.

This study, the ‘Metabolic Syndrome Research Project’, has grown into the largest cohort study in Korea, and more research results are expected with the extension of this agreement.

Choi Jae-young, director of industry-university cooperation at Yonsei University Health System, said, “I am grateful to KMI for cooperating with Yonsei University Health System for a long time.”

Lee Sang-ho, chairman of KMI, said, “Various results are expected by the two institutions joining forces and sharing information.”
