Kinopoisk distributes masterpieces by Hayao Miyazaki for 1 ruble

Hayao Miyazaki is a Japanese animator, producer, screenwriter, writer, and mangaka. He lived in the family of the owner of an aircraft factory, but was by no means fond of airplanes. The love of drawing grew into the meaning of life and presented the audience with many recognized masterpieces of Japanese animation, created together with the same admirer of his work, Isao Takahata, at Studio Ghibli.

The author’s works are saturated with an atmosphere of mystery and magic, which sometimes borders on fear and anxiety. It’s all about the reverent attitude to the details, paying tribute to the traditions of the Land of the Rising Sun and its rich mythology.

One such example is the 1994 film Spirited Away. It also takes 15th place in the top “Kinopoisk” among the 250 best films. In the story, the girl Chihiro and her parents become captives of the evil sorceress Yubaba. Succumbing to vices, mother and father turn into pigs. Surrounded by magical creatures and spirits, the heroine will have to learn the power of forgiveness and the deceit of greed. Only by enduring all the tests, Chihiro will be able to free his family from witchcraft.

More suitable for children will be the Witch’s Delivery Service tape. This is a light and kind animated film about a young witch. At the age of 13, she will have to live among people. There, in company with the cat Zizi, she will feel what it means to be responsible and executive, because she will have to earn a living with her work and the ability to build relationships with local residents.

Adults can check out Pompoko: Tanuki Warfare in the Heisei Period. Despite the fabulous picture and characters, the work has a serious historical and political overtones. According to the plot, the tanuki, a people of raccoon werewolf dogs, opposes people who cut down the forest in which the creatures and their families live. This is an allegorical image of the development of Tokyo and Yokohama in the 50s of the last century. The destruction of the natural area in the process of mass development led to the emergence of the Tokyo agglomeration. “Pompoko” illustrates in detail the confrontation between technology and tradition on the example of the war between people and tanuki.

All the works of Studio Ghibli are different from each other, but they have the exclusive love of the artist and a separate story. In them you can find dramatic films on a military theme (“The Wind Gets Stronger”), and works with a post-apocalyptic bias (“Nausica from the Valley of the Winds”). However, most of them are bright and emotional tales that will be interesting for children and instructive for adults.
