Kia announces new Sportage | National Class

Kia has announced the fifth generation of the Sportage. The premiere will follow in July and for the first time there will be a model specification for the European market. With the publication of these sketches, Kia promises a radical visual modification of the model.

The Korean company says that with the new generation, they not only wanted to go a step further, but to reach a completely new level within the SUV class. The sketches hint at a large front version of the “tiger’s nose” mask with C-shaped daytime running lights, accentuated rear sides that sink into the rear lights and an LED strip full width at the rear end.

Kia also gave a hint of the interior in one picture and revealed that the center console will have a curved screen for digital instruments and multimedia content. It will likely be a 10.25-inch unit from the recently unveiled Hyundai Tucson.

The new Sportage will share a lot of elements with Tucson, including the mechanical base, safety systems and internal technology.

For now, there are no details about the engines, but again, a comparison with Tucson leads to the conclusion that they will be electrified engines with front-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive. Hyundai offers petrol and diesel engines with mild hybrid assistance at 48V.
