Kemenparekraf Disburses IDR 60 Billion to Restore Tourism – The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) has again disbursed an incentive fund of Rp. 60 billion for the recovery of the national tourism sector

Expert Staff for Crisis Management at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Henky Manurung, said that this stimulus is also part of the National Economic Recovery (PEN) program.

Last year, the government had disbursed funds reaching Rp. 3.3 trillion, which had been absorbed by 70 percent for hotels and restaurants.

“There is confidence that we can achieve growth in the tourism sector. For example, in fact the economy in Yogyakarta is now growing at 6 percent and is followed by a growth in hotel occupancy rates as well. With the current situation, people actually long to travel but still maintain health protocols,” said Henky in the KPCPEN discussion, Thursday (10/6/2021).

In addition, the government will also continue various stimulus programs within the framework of the already ongoing PEN, such as interest subsidies, credit restructuring and Tourism KUR.

Henky added that apart from the stimulus, his party is also pushing for the implementation of the Cleanliness, Health, Safety and Environment Sustainability (CHSE) standards by all tourism-related business actors, including hotel operators.

While the health practitioner dr. Ratih C. Sari added that the government’s step by accelerating the implementation of CHSE standardization is very good in order to revive the economy while maintaining health.

“It all adds to a sense of security for visitors / travelers. Of course it is very important as a person to maintain health protocols,” said Ratih.

He considered that the implementation of strict health protocols at various public facilities such as airports, train stations, lodging, shopping centers and tourist centers, was a mutual cooperation effort that could help the national economy recover.
