Just before winter returns, it’s time to freshen up the house with new rugs

Complementary textile accessories such as rugs, pillows and curtains have become an integral part of home decor. Beyond a functional floor covering, the rug is a stylish and fashionable item with character, its an important part in determining the atmosphere and tone of the space. Apart from being a pleasant, soft and shock-absorbing surface, the rugs help to delineate the various spaces in the house and make it possible to emphasize certain corners with the help of shade, texture and style.

Julia Koris, marketing manager at the Red Carpet chain, notes that the app launched by the company earlier this year, which allows imaging technology to upload an image of the room and incorporate a rug from the variety on the site – made it easier for customers to choose the ideal rug for them, especially during the Corona. “The most popular rugs lately are the downy and furry ones, the Moroccan rugs and the atlas rugs,” she says.

“In order to design the space in a unique way, you need to take into account the range of furniture and items in the space,” emphasizes Corys. “Even if you choose a classic, boho-chic or modern and cleaner style, the rug helps to unite everything into a cohesive and complete look. Of course it is important that the rug corresponds with items that speak the same language and style, so that the connection between them will produce a harmonious result.”

The boho style, which has become especially popular with the Israeli audience, offers another pleasant alternative to the Scandinavian style, which was so popular: an eclectic and relaxed-looking style, through motifs from the natural world and bright and calm natural shades. According to Koris, the rugs that best suit this style are the knitted and braided ones, as well as the “Shaggy Marrakesh” rugs that convey a calm and pastoral look.

The abstract rugs, which are characterized by a look reminiscent of smears of color, compliment the clean modern style and incorporate a statement. “Just like an art picture, only instead of being hung on the wall, it is placed at your feet,” says Coris.

Next to all these there is the classic look that is not miraculously damp and is characterized by floor-to-ceiling curtains, leather armchairs and solid wood furniture. These will usually be accompanied by velvet rugs, exquisite print rugs or vintage style rugs. “Even old-fashioned and preserved rugs will highlight the richness of the materials as a kind of contrast and will offer a unique look with depth,” says Koris.

This is how you will find a winning position for the rug

1. A large and bright rug will give the illusion of space and airiness in the space. A collection of small rugs, preferably round, will be suitable for emphasizing special corners in the house and will convey an inviting look.

2. In the living room, you should choose a large rug, on which the front sofa legs and armchairs will be placed. This gives a more spacious feeling in the space.

In the bedroom, place the rug under the bed to give a feeling of richness and space.

4. Try using rugs in different shapes. For example, round rugs have been used especially for asymmetrical rooms, as they blur the proportions and create a beautiful connection between the various details of the room.

A rectangular rug will fit most dining tables, both round and square. Consider the dimensions of the table when choosing the dimensions of the rug.
