Junts denounces the “partisan” and “electoralist” use that ERC makes of the Government before the Electoral Board

Junts per Catalunya has denounced before the Electoral Board what in its opinion is a partisan and electoralist use of the Government of the Generalitat by the Republican Left before the Electoral Board.

The formation has brought before the administrative body that acts as electoral arbitrator several actions of the Catalan Executive to assess whether institutional neutrality is respected. These are campaigns of achievements of the work of the Government that, in the opinion of JxCat, have “a clearly electoral content” and “have nothing to do with the safeguarding of the public interest and the operation of public services” that depend on the administration.

Junts’ appeal challenges what they consider to be “propaganda”, which is prohibited during the electoral period, between April 3 and May 28.

The formation, in the complaint presented to the Barcelona Electoral Board, points out that the Generalitat through various departments has continued to carry out a municipal policy outside electoral regulations. In addition, in a statement, the party headed by Jordi Turull demands “fair play” and that “institutional neutrality be guaranteed”.

Specifically, the training denounces statements from the Department of the Interior about firefighters and the firefighting campaign that will be launched in the summer, another from the Ministry of Education about measures against school bullying, from the Foreign Action portfolio for the creation of a body specialized in that field in the Generalitat, of the Department of Climate Action for measures that affect livestock, for the announcement of penalty sales to large apartment owners last year, made by the Department of Business and Work, other similar announcement by the Department of the Presidency; for a tender for works by the Department of Territory in the Solsonès, and even for an intervention by the president Pere Aragonès on the Pyrenees.
