June 2021 Exports Skyrocket To Reach 18.55 Billion US Dollars

Suara.com – The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that the total value of Indonesia’s exports in June 2021 reached 18.55 billion US dollars.

Head of BPS Margo Yuwono said, when compared to the position in May 2021, the export performance increased by 9.52 percent (month-to-month/mtm), as well as year on year (yoy) skyrocketed 54.46 percent.

The increase in exports was caused by the skyrocketing oil and gas exports by 27.23 percent mtm and the increase in non-oil and gas exports by 8.45 percent mtm.

Likewise with the same period last year, where the performance of oil and gas exports rose by 117.15 percent, while non-oil and gas exports rose 51.35 percent yoy.

“Export developments throughout 2021 are very promising, as can be seen from the graph which is always above the graph of the previous 2 years (2019-2021),” said Margo Yuwono in his virtual press conference, Thursday (15/7/2021).

He explained that export growth in June 2021 was driven by increased demand from Indonesia’s trading partner countries, as well as rising commodity prices.

Primarily driven by an increase in exports of crude oil by 28.52 percent, oil yields by 63.43 percent, and gas by 18.15 percent.

Meanwhile, non-oil and gas exports were driven by an increase in exports of iron and steel by 32.3 percent, vehicles and their parts by 42.19 percent, and increases in several other commodities.

On the other hand, exports of non-oil and gas commodities were driven mainly by exports of iron and steel commodities, which rose by 181.19 percent, with the main destination countries being China, Taiwan and Malaysia.
