Senior Reporter: At the end of 2019, this dairy farm was built on 50 acres of land in Santoshpur village of Badarganj as an automated pasteurized milk factory. Ion Group has launched a milk factory for the first time in the country to deliver milk to people without the touch of a hand.
At present, the farm produces 2,000 liters of cow’s milk daily. It will soon increase to 10,000 liters, officials said. It will be marketed through other organizations in their group.
All the processes will be completed without touching the hands till the cows reach the people through milking, pasteurization, homeogenization and packing. Besides milk, other dairy products like ghee, yoghurt and ice cream will be produced.
The pasteurization of Ion Hi-Tech Dairy Farm under the brand name ‘Bakara’ was inaugurated on Saturday. The farm was inaugurated by Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim at Badarganj in Rangpur.
All the processes starting from feeding the cows on the farm are done through machines. Harmful antibiotics and aflatoxins are then separated from the farm’s processing unit milk. These milks are available in the market in 500 ml and 1000 ml packs. Fat and fat-free milk of two different flavors are available in the market.
Momin-ud-Daulah, managing director of Ion Group, said everything from milking the cows to packaging the milk is being done completely automatically. In addition to pasteurized milk, we will also market powdered milk soon.
It can be seen on the ground that the cows have been kept separate in several large sheds on the basis of sex and age. These sheds are made by Ion Bioscience Dairy Farm according to the design made by a company called D Level in Sweden. Automated Milking Parlor has been set up for milking.
Farm advisor said. AKM Sirajul Haque said, “We are not using hands in any way in the whole process. All the work of producing safe milk is done on controlled machines.
In addition, IoT sensors have been installed on the farm to monitor the health, feeding, medication and breeding of each cow.
Earlier, at the end of 2019, this dairy farm was constructed on 50 acres of land in Santoshpur village of Badarganj. The Ion Group then imported 225 Holstein Friesian cows from Australia by air.
The cows are now being reared on this farm. In the one year since it started in December last year, 196 new calves have been born on the farm.
Momin Ud Daula said the annual milk production in the country has increased 10 times in the last few years. The country still spends around Rs 4,000 crore every year to import milk, especially powdered milk.
Momin Ud Daula said that by expanding the farms, besides meeting the demand of the country, huge employment will be created.
Ion Animal Health, which started small-scale operations in 2000, is now a large group organization. The group has 20 employees in 20 companies. In addition to fish, grain, cattle farms, animal health, poultry feed is now the big business of the company.
Ion Group is also a big name in this sector since 2007 when it started producing grains or seeds. The group also has a poultry food processing company called Ion Food.
