The 5th grade students of the José Echegaray School, participants this year in the project ‘Entrepreneurial Culture at School’ (CUEME) received last Thursday, a theoretical session to learn how to create a radio ad. The cooperative members will then record the wedge in the studios of Ràdio Martorell, in order to promote the artisan products that will be sold on the day of the market and on the Internet.
On this occasion, the journalists of Ràdio Martorell Maria Cerezuela and Irene Jurado made a telematic session to teach the students of José Echegaray how to write, structure and speak a radio ad. Cooperatives learned about the different options for making an effective wedge and were able to analyze some examples to work on in class. They also became familiar with concepts such as target (which defines the target audience we are targeting) or share (the percentage of audience that listens to us).
The three cooperatives ‘The Echegaray Handles’, ‘Artkids’ and ‘TMW (The Magic Wonkers)’, received ideas to make the scripts more creative and keep the attention of the listeners. It was explained what kind of speaker is needed to record a wedge, taking into account voice, accent, diction, and interpretation.
The wedges made by the students can be recorded with cushion music under the voice, to accompany and enhance it, or with a jingle or sound effect that they will try to fix in the audience’s memory.
During the workshop, students began making their own wedge to advertise their cooperative’s products. The chosen announcement will be recorded in a visit that the representatives of each cooperative will make to the studies of the municipal station, and that will help them to make known their crafts.
The day of the market is to be defined, although the products can also be purchased through a website that they are creating to sell their products via the Internet and thus facilitate their sale.
