Metropolitan Joanikije

Metropolitan Joanikije of Montenegro and the Coast said today that the tragedy in Cetinje is “a terrible warning for every person to imagine where he is and what he is”.

During the service in the Cetinje monastery, on the feast of the Presentation of the Holy Cross and the Holy Martyrs Maccabees, Joanikije pointed out that after that tragedy, it is not appropriate to say many words in Montenegro.

– Cetinje is in great mourning, great sadness, pain, suffering and unhappiness because of the tragedy that happened. Children died, innocent people died. We can only cry out to the Lord God to pour out his mercy on this city, and especially on the grieving families – said Ioannikije, reports the Mitropolije portal.

He called on the faithful to pray to God that he would give strength to those who have lost their loved ones to endure the pain with dignity.

– This is a terrible warning for every person, for everyone who hears what kind of tragedy happened – that a person imagines where he is and what he is. May God pour out his mercy on this city and on those who are grieving, and peace to the souls of those who have passed away – said Joanikije.
