The US First Lady, Jill Biden, will be visiting Lisbon on June 5 for the opening of the 60th anniversary celebrations of the Arte nas Embaixadas program, promoted by the US embassy in Portugal.

In addition to Portugal, Jill Biden will visit Egypt, Morocco and attend the royal wedding in Jordan (between Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah and Rajwa Khald Alseif), on a six-day trip through the Middle East, North Africa and Europe. One of the objectives of this visit is, according to the office of the first lady of the United States, to promote the “empowerment of women and young people”. In Lisbon, Jill Biden will be at the opening ceremony of the three-day celebrations to promote the art and artists that are on display at the official residence of the US ambassador to Portugal, Randi Charno Levine, and which will now be available to the public in a collection at the premises. from Universidade Católica, entitled “Celebrating Diversity: Democracy and Representation in Contemporary Art”.

The initiative of the US embassy in Portugal also includes debates on the role of art in diversity and democracies.
