Jeep Compass and Renegade get e-Hybrid technology and a new engine

Jeep is bringing more green technologies to Europe as the company will offer a fully electrified range by the end of the year. As part of this effort, the brand introduced e-Hybrid versions of Compass and Renegade.

Both models feature a new 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that develops 132 hp and 240 Nm of torque.

The company said the engine was “designed to be the best for hybrid use” because it runs on the Miller cycle, offers a high compression ratio of 12.5: 1 and has a high-pressure direct injection system that works up to 350 bar.

The hybrid technology is a 48-volt 15 kW (20 hp) electric motor that delivers 55 Nm of torque.

It may not be too powerful, but it is quite enough to start the wheels even when the internal combustion engine is turned off, for example, in stop-start situations and when parking.

The powertrain also has an e-boost function, ie it helps with acceleration, and a big news in the range is that e-Hybrids help reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by up to 15%.

To highlight the new models, Jeep will launch a special edition called Upland, which contains sustainable materials, as well as environmentally friendly colors and finishes.

There’s an exclusive Matter Azure exterior with a contrasting black roof and 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels with a glossy black finish. They are joined by MetaKrome bronze accents and a hood sticker.

Customers will find exclusive SEACUAL seats in the cabin made of plastic extracted from the Mediterranean.

They have contrasting seams, organic vinyl insert and Jeep logos on the backs. The seat will be joined by MetaKrome bronze details and materials obtained from recycled plastic.

In addition to the special edition, there will be equipment from Longitude, Night Eagle, Limited and S. The models will be offered in various markets, including Serbia.

All this technology refers exclusively to front-wheel drive.
