It’s dangerous, Mr. Jokowi! There is a heavily damaged road in Kolaka, causing the price of basic necessities to increase by more than 100 percent

Suara.com – Damage to infrastructure in the form of connecting roads has turned out to be an endless suffering for the people in North Kolaka Regency, Southeast Sulawesi (Southeast Sulawesi), especially in the Batu Putih, Porehu and Tolala Districts.

The road along the route was heavily damaged for about 30 kilometers. This concern was expressed by the Chairman of the North Kolaka DPRD, Buhari Djumas. He detailed that the damage was on the Batu Putih-Porehu road section, approximately 9 kilometers, and the route from Sarambu village to Leleulu was heavily damaged, reaching 20 kilometers.

“The condition of the Batu Putih-Porehu road is currently an emergency and really needs immediate treatment,” he explained, Sunday (21/5/2023).

As a result of the damage to the road, there are three villages in Porehu District which are completely inaccessible to four-wheeled vehicles. This condition had an impact on the price of basic necessities which skyrocketed to 100 percent of the market price.

“Prices of basic necessities have gone up by 50 percent. Even the villages of Leleulu, Loka and Larui, which are completely inaccessible to four-wheeled vehicles, have increased by more than 100 percent,” he explained.

Previously, Porehu sub-district head Darlis Kalimu said the road connecting the three sub-districts was the main access for people living in six villages in Porehu sub-district and one village in Tolala sub-district.

“There is a regency road from the direction of Lelewawo Village. It’s just that for the people of Porehu, the access is very far compared to the Batu Putih-Porehu direction, which is in a very bad condition,” said Darlis.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of the Southeast Sulawesi Provincial DPRD Jumarding said that this year the provincial government has allocated a budget of Rp 5.5 billion for revamping provincial roads in Porehu District.

“Regarding the length and points as well as other technical work, those who know better are the Southeast Sulawesi Provincial Office of Public Works,” he said.
