It is suspected that Covid-19 has spread in France since early November 2019

Suara.com – A new study by the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM) has found that SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus that causes Covid-19, may have been circulating in France in November 2019,

This is known from the analysis of serum samples of more than nine thousand adults in the country who tested positive for corona virus antibodies.

The research, led by Fabrice Carrat, director of the Pierre Louis Institute of Epidemiology and Public Health in Paris, is published in Europe Journal of Epidemiology last week.

Reported CTGN9,144 serum samples were collected between November 4, 2019 and March 16, 2020 from people living in 12 regions of mainland France.

“We identified 353 participants with a positive anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgG test and detectable neutralizing antibodies in 44 participants,” said the investigators.

Of these, researchers found 13 participants with positive IgG and neutralizing antibodies sampled between November 5, 2019 and January 30, 2020, seven of whom had serum samples taken that month.

Researchers believe that this study points to the presence of Covid-19 in France as early as November 2019.

On the other hand, on May 7, 2020, the Albert Schweitzer hospital in Colmar, Eastern France, which reviewed chest scans of 2,456 people between November 1 and April 30 found suspected cases of the coronavirus.
