Investment for Dutch podcast host Springcast

Springcast, a SaaS service for publishing podcasts, has completed a first round of financing with a group of private investors. The Dutch company wants to become a European player with hosting and marketing services for podcasts.

Springcast of Jeroen Broekema and Nico Oud does not disclose the amount of the investment. Broekema speaks to Emerce about a multi-million dollar valuation, but keeps further details to himself. Not only about the finances, but also about the names of his lenders. “They are entrepreneurs with expertise in media, tech and finance.”

Until now, the duo built Springcast with their own money. They say they already serve hundreds of customers with podcast hosting. “Actually, that’s the wrong term,” says Broekema, “because it also involves issues such as publishing, marketing, data and analytics. It is a SaaS product.”

There are few European players in this field, at most Soundcloud. Podcast hosting is often an American affair. Unfair, say entrepreneurs. They paid a lot of attention to GDPR, analytics and links with other marketing tools. It is mainly companies and governments that take advantage of this.

From external capital injection is used to set up the foreign marketing activities. Special attention is paid to the German market, precisely because of its demandingness.
