Investigation into genocide attack in Rwanda has been shelved – World

The Paris Court of Appeal on Friday confirmed the 20-year-old investigation into the bombing of Rwandan President Juvenal Habyarimana’s plane that triggered the 1994 genocide in Rwanda, lawyers said.

After six months of deliberations, the magistrates of the Investigative Chamber of the Paris Court of Appeal confirmed the decision of the anti-terrorist judges, who ordered on 21 December 2018, to drop the charges against nine members or former members of the current Rwandan president’s entourage Paul Kagame.

Lawyers for the Habyarimana family and the French plane’s crew immediately announced they would appeal the decision.
