Intervertebral disc surgery: break for Tiger Woods

Golf superstar Tiger Woods has to take a tournament break of several weeks after a minor surgery.

As the 15-time major winner from the USA announced on Tuesday via Twitter, he had a minimally invasive fragment of a disc removed that was pressing painfully on a nerve.

“I’m looking forward to getting back into training and returning to the tour,” wrote the 45-year-old.

He will not take part in the tournaments in Torrey Pines (January 28 to 31) and Riviera (February 18 to 21), both in the US state of California. However, he will act as host in Riviera with his foundation as planned.
