The number of internally displaced people in Ukraine rose again to 6.9 million in August, six months after the start of the war, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) warned on Tuesday.

“The war shows no signs of slowing down. Prolonged internal displacement generates growing needs and vulnerabilities”, said the head of the IOM mission in Ukraine, Anh Nguyen, noting that the number of displaced persons registered as of July already exceeds 300,000. people, mainly in the south and east of the country.

According to the IOM, almost half (44%) of displaced persons of working age do not currently have any source of income, with only a third indicating they still have a salary and 24% depend on State support.
