Intel CEO Bob Swan gives way to industry veteran Patrick Gelsinger

Patrick says “Pat” Gelsinger can not be accused of lack of technicality: debauched from VMware, he is a veteran of Intel where he officiated three decades. And for good reason: he is at the origin of standards such as USB or Wi-Fi, participated in 14 generations of processors (including emblematic chips like the 80486, the different generations of Pentium, etc.) and had initiated the famous Intel Developper Forum in 1997, the annual high mass of semiconductors abandoned in 2017.

Pat Gelsinger will have the difficult task not to put Intel back afloat, because the company is still making (a lot) of money, but to restore its technological reputation, to accelerate developments and transformations around booming equipment (equipment network, AI chips, etc.). And to revitalize (or reinvent) the x86, whose undivided domination for decades has been undermined by the various ARM chips.
