Instructions for use of LED lights in banks

Bangladesh Bank has directed banks to use energy-efficient LED lights instead of compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) that consume more electricity to reduce costs in the electricity sector. Besides, the central bank has asked to keep the temperature of the air conditioner above 25 degrees Celsius.

On Wednesday (September 7), Bangladesh Bank issued a notification to reduce the cost in the power sector and gave this direction.

The notification recommends servicing the AC at least once every year. It also prescribes the use of refrigerators with energy efficient inverter technology.

It is said in the directive that maximum use of daylight should be ensured in all banks to save energy. And to reduce costs in the energy sector, special motion sensor-based lighting should be used in banks’ stairs, corridors, and waiting rooms.

Besides, the notification has advised to take initiative to generate electricity from renewable energy sources on office rooftops or empty spaces of office premises.
