Innovative schools and new learning environments among the pillars of ‘School ReGeneration’

04/06/2021 – There is also the regeneration of infrastructure, with the construction of innovative buildings and the creation of new learning environments, among the four pillars of ‘School ReGeneration‘, the Plan for the ecological and cultural transition of schools, conceived as part of the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda, which the Minister of Education, Patrizio Bianchi, and Undersecretary Barbara Floridia present today at the Ministry of Instruction.

The Plan aims to educate the youngest, the new generations, ad inhabit the world in a different way, thinking about the long term, paying attention to environmental issues, the sustainability of our economies and our lifestyles, designing new jobs that know how to look to the future while respecting what surrounds us.

The Plan looks to the Italian school as a cultural infrastructure, as a center of communities, existential and housing model, place of origin of a new ecological and economic alphabet. The different educations and experiences implemented thanks to the Plan – explains the Ministry – will be part of a single knowledge base that will be used by the new generations to understand the complexity and interconnection of people’s lives and the Planet.

The ecological and cultural transition of the school will be founded on four pillars:
– the regeneration of knowledge, or what is learned at school;
the regeneration of infrastructures, with the construction of innovative buildings and the creation of new learning environments;
– the regeneration of behaviors, with the acquisition of good habits respecting the environment even at school;
– the regeneration of opportunities, i.e. school courses characterized by training courses that look at the themes of ecology and sustainability.
