Ineos Inovyn celebrates its 50th anniversary with a guided tour of the facilities

The Ineos Inovyn plant in Martorell, formerly Solvay, has celebrated its fiftieth anniversary with a visit to the facilities open to authorities, workers and ex-workers. It was attended by the mayor of Martorell, Xavier Fonollosa, accompanied by councilors Rosa Cadenas, Elisabeth Plaza and Lluís Sagarra, as well as the director of the factory Basilio Garcia and the head of Communications José Antonio Arévalo.

Ineos Inovyn is a chemical group based in Martorell that focuses its activity mainly on the production of PVC (polyvinyl chloride), one of the plastics most used by our society, which is exported to companies mostly dedicated to the construction sector . The complex established in Martorell ensures sustainable and environmentally friendly work and to this end, since 1999 it has been part of the EMAS program, a European Community regulation of voluntary affiliation that recognizes organizations that improve environmental performance continuously.

As the mayor of Martorell, Xavier Fonollosa, explains, “the arrival of Solvay and a group of companies, fifty years ago, led to the industrialization of Martorell. This factory is part of the industrial history of our city, which is a success story. In addition, this chemical group has always had a good relationship with all the associative fabric of the city with the aim of being “a good industrial neighbor”, and also with the City Council, which hopes that this company and all the ones in Martorell go further”.

After fifty years in operation, Inovyn continues to be an expanding company that exports raw material to several countries in the European Union. Basilio García, director of the factory, points out that the secret of success is none other than hard work. “There is very serious work, many committed people, and a collaboration with the population so that they understand that we work to improve society, create wealth and jobs. It is also necessary to do things well to be competitive, to be able to sell in national and international markets, overcome economic crises and maintain production. Work with great discipline, taking into account the population, the laws and the authorities”.
