India will play the Asia Cup if they get the assurance from Pakistan

Pakistan hosts the 16th edition of the Asia Cup. However, due to political tension, India is not willing to visit Pakistan to participate in the tournament. For this, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) proposed a change of venue to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is also adamant about hosting the tournament at home.

And so the PCB has proposed to organize a hybrid model event to implement India’s participation. India’s matches could be played at neutral venues – a proposal called the hybrid model. In that case, India will play their matches in the United Arab Emirates.

In the hybrid model proposed by PCB Steering Committee Chairman Najam Shetty, the first four group stage matches of the tournament will be played in Pakistan. Moreover, India’s matches and the subsequent phase, including the final, will be played at a neutral venue (in the United Arab Emirates).

Meanwhile, if Bharat does not accept the hybrid model given by Pakistan, then they too will not participate in the World Cup to be held in India.

According to PCB sources, the deadlock is about to end. PCB officials have been informed that BCCI and ACC members are willing to accept the hybrid model proposed by Pakistan. In return, the BCCI wants an assurance from the PCB that they will send their team to India for the 2023 ODI World Cup.
