Plates, bowls and vases, fine fabrics in the form of pillows, blankets and large rugs. For this spring H&M home he asked India Mahdavi | to think of a collection of home accessories with an artisanal touch. The result is a line of accessories, from ceramics to textiles, which combine the simplicity and know-how of handmade with the color aesthetics typical of the Fanco-Iranian designer and architect.

MANY PEOPLE ARE AFRAID TO DARE WITH COLOR. THIS COLLECTION IS A SIMPLE WAY TO APPROACH IT

INDIA MAHDAVI

In designing the homeware series, Mahdavi selected European manufacturers from H&M home suppliers with a particular focus oncraftsmanship. There are thus plates, bowls, mugs with wavy edges and jugs, as well as placemats, pillows and even a blanket and rug. The inspiration comes from his unconventional and multicultural artistic references, which revolve around the “joy of living”, showing how colors, materials and shapes can positively influence the mood in one’s daily living space. “Many people are afraid to be daring with color”, comments the designer, “this collection is meant to be an easy way to approach it”.

Known in the world of design and architecture as the “queen” of color thanks to interventions such as the recent yellow renovation of the Sketch’s restaurant in London or the Le Cloître hotel in Arles, just to name a few, and its unmistakable furnishings such as the Bishop stool, Mahdavi again focuses on the power of colors to convey positive emotions in daily life. The collection India Mahdavi x H&M home will be available in a circuit of selected stores e online starting April 28, 2022.
