A MiG-21 LanceR aircraft, belonging to the 86th Borcea Air Base, registered a problem related to the operation of the landing gear hatches.
The incident took place during the execution of a training flight, according to the Ministry of National Defense (MApN).
The aircraft took off from Mihail Kogălniceanu aerodrome around 5.50 pm.
After take-off, the pilot reported that on-board sensors indicate incomplete landing gear hatches.
As a result, the pilot applied the standard procedures for solving the special case, in accordance with the aircraft’s operation manuals, and landed safely at Mihail Kogălniceanu airfield around 6:50 p.m.
A commission appointed by the commander of the 86th Air Base is investigating the causes of this event, the Ministry of National Defense announced.
