Although the halls of the Rothko Center are still closed to visitors, the staff of the center find other ways to share interesting creativity with the townspeople and guests of the city. More recently, ceramic works have appeared in the windows of the city’s institutions, created in the framework of the symposia and biennial of ceramics, and included in the collection of the Rothko Center.
A group of creative works of the artist from St. Petersburg Anastasia Charina “August” is now exhibited in the showcase of the center of culture of the Daugavpils region “Warpa”. This mini-exhibition will be there until the end of March.
In the window of the Daugavpils Tourist Information Center, you can see the creations of five ceramics at once: polka Yanina Mironova, Russian Julia Repina, our compatriot Ieva Yurka, Belgian Anet Defort and Australian representative Klaus Gutovsky.
Active work is also underway inside the Rothko center: the renovation of sector “A” is being completed here. Previously, this space was entirely dedicated to the life and work of the master of abstract expressionism, but now the concept has changed slightly – some of the premises will be presented to objects of art from the center’s collection, thereby showing his artistic life since the opening of the institution.
At the same time, the sector underwent repairs: walls were repainted, lighting was improved and a number of other works were carried out.
At the moment, the acceptance of applications for participation in the competition exhibition of artists from the Latgale region “Legalized Fantasies” has been announced. To apply for participation in this exhibition, you must fill out a registration form and send it by e-mail by March 10 inclusive [email protected]by attaching photos of the claimed works. The exhibition is scheduled from April 16 to June 13, 2021.
Employees of the Rothko Center hope that in a few months the restrictions will decrease and art lovers will be able to see this and other exhibitions directly in the halls of the art center.
