In the Waterboom Cikarang case, the police are urged to determine the Lippo Group boss as a suspect

Suara.com – Chairman of the Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Youth National Committee (DPP KNPI), Haris Pertama, urged the police to assign suspects to the owner of Waterboom Lippo Cikarang, James Riady. Because the opening of Waterboom Lippo Cikarang caused a crowd of people to violate health protocols during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We ask the police to immediately investigate and determine (James Riady) as a suspect,” said Haris in a press statement in Jakarta, Wednesday (13/1/2021).

According to Haris, Waterboom Lippo Cikarang, which is part of the Lippo Group, is only looking for maximum profit in the midst of a pandemic without paying attention to health protocols such as government instructions.

“The Lippo Group is only concerned with business only by opening its wagon. In fact, the government strictly forbids any crowds in the midst of a pandemic, ”said Haris.

As is known, people travel to Waterboom Lippo Cikarang because there is an entrance ticket discount. From the previous Rp. 95,000, the discount was Rp. 10,000.

Haris explained, the owner of Waterboom could be charged under Law No. 6 of 2018 on Health Quarantine.

Previously, the spokesman for the Bekasi Covid-19 Task Force, Alamsyah, said that his party had decided to temporarily close Waterboom Lippo Cikarang. Temporary closure is carried out as a form of follow-up to violations committed by waterboom management.

“The closure will be carried out for an undetermined time. The closure will start today,” said Alamsyah.

Kapolsek Selatan Cikarang Police Commissioner Sukadi said that the police have examined several witnesses regarding the violation of health protocols at Waterboom Lippo Cikarang. One that was examined was the general manager (GM) of Waterboom Lippo Cikarang.

“It has been (checked), Waterboom management, be it the GM on behalf of Mrs. Ike or the ticket manager, has already been questioned, related to the crowd, Article 93 of Law Number 6 of 2018 is applied,” said Sukadi. From the results of the examination, the police will carry out further development and legal steps.

The crowd video at the waterboom in Lippo Cikarang was viral on social media. In the short video, you can see police officers disperse visitors. When scattered from the pool, it was seen that the majority of visitors did not obey health protocols such as not wearing masks and not maintaining their distance.
